About Dr. Smit

Dr. Arno Smit obtained his medical degree in 1994, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He became a specialist in orthopaedic surgery in 1999, after completing the five-year orthopaedic surgery training program at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and successful examination by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

He has practiced orthopaedic surgery in White Rock, BC, since September 1999. He has developed a special interest in the treatment of arthritis and sports injuries. As well, he provides emergency orthopedic care in Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock.

Dr. Smit is a member of the British Columbia Medical Association, Canadian Medical Association, British Columbia Orthopedic Association and the Canadian Orthopedic Association. He is fully accredited to practice orthopaedic surgery in British Columbia by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.

Outside of medicine, he is busy with his young family. He enjoys cross-country skiing, running and swimming.  He currently is the president of the Pacific Seawolves Swim Club, Surrey, a competitive age group swim club, providing programming for young swimmers.
